EXP COVID-19 Offices White Paper

4. CONCLUSION

Applications for Offices Infection control is about controlling risk. It includes a multi-level systems approach, with consideration to complex variations in transmission, people, the environment they interact with and purposeful redundancy. SARS-CoV-2 has four known paths of transmission. We must take adequate steps to reduce the risk of transmission through purposeful and meaningful measures for each path. Some measures we take will positively affect each path. For example, if measures are taken to not allow infected individuals to enter the property the risks for all paths are reduced. These strategies would include surveys, temperature checks and even tenant and visitor temperature checks. Our team of experts has identified a plan to strategically reduce the risk of transmission in office environments. This plan is detailed below:

PATH ONE (LARGE DROPLETS): PRIORITY • Protective barriers (e.g., shields at check in and glass partitions between dining booths) • Social distancing • Protection of nose and mouth (e.g., staff face covering) • Smart Building Technology

PATH TWO (SURFACES): PRIORITY

• Frequent sanitation of high touch surfaces • Personal hygiene and frequent handwashing

• Protection of nose and mouth (e.g., staff face covering) • Electrostatic Spray Applied Disinfectant to all surfaces • Employee to wear gloves at touchpoint activities • Contactless Payment Systems at Vending Machines • Contactless public facilities ADDITIONAL SYSTEM MEASURES

• Smart Building Technology • Ionization in HVAC System • Localized UVC on high contact surfaces with occupancy sensors (e.g., elevator touch pads) • UVC in unoccupied spaces (e.g., elevator cabs) • Unoccupied “kill” treatment prior to housekeeping (e.g., dry hydrogen peroxide or UVC robots)
